Parties and acceptance

Who we are. Salvie is a mobile application published by Salvia Code Labs, based in Denmark ("Salvie", "we", "us" or "our"). Contact details are in Section 19.

Who you are. By accepting these Terms you confirm that you are at least 16 years old and can enter into a binding agreement. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for any subscription purchased through your account.

How you accept. You accept these Terms by creating a Salvie account, or by downloading, installing, launching or using the app.

Apple and Google. Salvie is distributed through the App Store and Google Play. Neither Apple Inc. nor Google LLC is a party to these Terms, and neither is responsible for the app, its content, or any support or maintenance for it. This agreement is between you and us alone. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you to the extent they concern your licence to use the app on Apple devices. Where these Terms conflict with Apple's standard End User Licence Agreement, the terms of that agreement prevail for the iOS app.

What Salvie does

The service. Salvie is a kitchen and pantry application that lets you:

• Scan grocery receipts, which are read by AI and turned into structured pantry items with an estimated expiry date and storage location
• Keep a pantry that tracks quantity, storage, expiry and how confident the app is that an item is still there
• Receive recipe suggestions ranked by how much of a recipe your pantry already covers, filtered by your dietary preferences
• Keep a shopping list, generated from your pantry or added to by hand
• Save recipes and import a recipe from a link you paste
• Receive reminders about items that are about to expire

Availability. We aim to keep Salvie available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may carry out maintenance, ship updates, change or withdraw features, or suspend the service — with reasonable notice where that is practicable. We are not liable for temporary unavailability.

Requirements. Salvie needs a compatible iOS or Android device and an internet connection for most features, including receipt scanning, recipe suggestions and syncing. Third-party services we depend on, including AI providers, may themselves be unavailable or rate-limited from time to time.

Your account

Registration. You need an account to use Salvie. You can create one with an email address and password, or through Sign in with Apple or Google. You agree to give accurate information and to keep it current.

Security. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for everything that happens under your account. Tell us at contact@salvie.eu immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.

One account per person. Accounts are personal and non-transferable. Don't create an account for someone else or let others use yours.

Salvie Pro — subscriptions and payments

Free tier. Salvie is free to use, including the pantry, expiry tracking, recipe suggestions and shopping list. The free tier includes 5 receipt scans. We may change what the free tier includes for new users; we will not silently remove something you have already paid for.

Salvie Pro. Additional features — including unlimited receipt scans — are available through Salvie Pro, an auto-renewing subscription sold as an in-app purchase through the App Store or Google Play, on a monthly or annual plan.

Billing and renewal. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account when you confirm the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the same price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Renewal is charged within the 24 hours before the period ends. Prices vary by region and are always shown to you before you confirm.

Cancelling. Cancel auto-renewal at any time in your store account settings (iOS: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Android: Google Play → Payments & subscriptions). Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current period and you keep Pro until then. We don't refund unused portions of a period except where the law or the store's own refund policy requires it.

Free trials. Where we offer a trial, any unused part of it is forfeited when you start a paid subscription.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices. If the price of a renewing subscription goes up, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before it takes effect. Continuing past that date means you accept the new price; cancel before it if you don't.

Payment processing. All payments are processed by Apple or Google. We never receive or store your payment card details, and their terms govern the transaction.

EU and EEA right of withdrawal. As a consumer in the EU or EEA you normally have 14 days to withdraw from a purchase of digital content. Under Article 16(m) of Directive 2011/83/EU, by getting immediate access to Salvie Pro on purchase you expressly consent to the service starting straight away and acknowledge that you lose that right of withdrawal once it has. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their App Store and Google Play policies.

Acceptable use

Permitted use. Use Salvie for your own personal, non-commercial kitchen, in line with these Terms and applicable law.

You agree not to:

• Use Salvie for any unlawful purpose, or in breach of any law or regulation
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble or try to derive the source code of any part of the app
• Reproduce, distribute, sell, sublicense or create derivative works from Salvie or its content without our written consent
• Use bots, scrapers or other automated tools against the app or our API, or use the app to build a competing dataset
• Use the receipt scanner on images that are not your own grocery receipts, or that contain other people's personal information
• Import recipe links in order to bulk-extract or republish a publisher's content
• Interfere with the integrity, security or performance of the service, or attempt to access other users' accounts or our systems without authorisation
• Transmit malware or any other harmful code
• Circumvent usage limits, the free-tier scan limit, or any security or payment feature of the app

Breaching this section may lead to immediate suspension or termination of your account and, where warranted, legal action.

Food safety, expiry dates and allergens

Expiry dates are estimates. Salvie estimates how long food lasts from its type and storage location, or reads a date from a receipt. Those estimates take no account of how the food was handled, transported, stored, opened or how warm your kitchen is. The printed use-by date on the packaging always takes precedence, and food can spoil well before any estimated date. Never rely on Salvie to decide whether something is still safe to eat. If in doubt, throw it out.

Allergens and intolerances. Dietary flags such as vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free come from recipe data that is read automatically from third-party sources, and ingredient matching relies on names rather than laboratory analysis. It can be incomplete or wrong, and it knows nothing about cross-contamination, "may contain" warnings, substituted brands or how a dish is actually prepared. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, do not rely on Salvie. Check every ingredient and every product label yourself, and read the recipe at its original source before you cook it. We accept no liability for an allergic or adverse reaction.

Nutrition is not medical advice. Calorie and macronutrient figures shown in the app are estimates drawn from recipe data, not measurements of the food in your kitchen. Salvie is not a medical device and gives no medical, dietary or nutritional advice. If you have a health condition, are pregnant, or follow a diet for medical reasons, speak to a qualified professional rather than an app.

Cooking safely is your responsibility. You are responsible for handling, storing and cooking food safely — including cooking temperatures, hygiene and the use of kitchen equipment.

AI features and their limits

Receipt scanning, ingredient translation and recipe import use AI models provided by a third party. AI gets things wrong. Receipts are misread, quantities are misinterpreted, an ingredient name is translated oddly, a recipe is extracted incorrectly.

That is why the app always shows you what it found before anything is saved. Review it. We do not warrant that AI output is accurate, complete or suitable for any purpose, and results for the same input can differ between attempts.

AI features depend on third-party providers and may be unavailable, delayed or rate-limited. That is not a defect in the service and does not entitle you to a refund of a subscription period, though we will of course try to restore them quickly.

Recipes, third-party content and attribution

Where recipes come from. Salvie's recipe suggestions are drawn from a curated catalogue built from recipe publishers' own websites. For those sources, Salvie stores only the functional facts — ingredients, quantities, timings, servings, dietary flags and the link — and sends you to the publisher's page to read the method. Where a publisher has licensed content to us directly, their recipe may be shown in full inside the app.

Publishers keep their rights. Recipe text, photographs and other content belong to the publishers who created them and are protected by copyright and, in the EU, database rights. Nothing in Salvie grants you any right to copy, republish or redistribute that content. When you follow a link out of the app, that site's terms and privacy policy apply.

We don't endorse recipes. Appearing in Salvie is not a recommendation, endorsement or verification of a recipe, and we are not responsible for the accuracy, quality or safety of third-party recipes or for anything on the sites we link to.

Publishers: if you would rather your site was not included in the catalogue, write to contact@salvie.eu and we will remove it.

Your content

What it is. "Your Content" means everything you put into the app: pantry items, shopping lists, saved recipes, preferences, receipt scans and anything else you enter. You own it.

What we may do with it. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, process and display Your Content for one purpose: providing the service to you. That includes sending receipt images and unrecognised ingredient names to our AI processor as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not sell Your Content, and we do not use it to train AI models.

Your responsibility. You are responsible for what you put in, and you confirm that you have the right to submit it. Please do not scan receipts or upload images containing other people's personal information.

Export and deletion. Delete your account in the app at any time (You → Account → Delete account) to erase Your Content, or email us for an export in a machine-readable format.

Intellectual property

Ours. Salvie — its name, logo, design, illustrations and icons, software, prompts, matching logic and all other content we create — belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property law. These Terms transfer none of it to you.

Your licence. Subject to your compliance with these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Salvie on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use.

Feedback. If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them freely and without obligation to you. We appreciate them.

Privacy and data protection

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, who processes it and how long we keep it. It forms part of your agreement with us.

We process personal data in accordance with the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Danish Data Protection Act (databeskyttelsesloven). The controller is Salvia Code Labs. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent — exercise them by writing to contact@salvie.eu, or complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency (datatilsynet.dk) if you think we have got it wrong.

Third-party services

Salvie relies on third-party services — cloud hosting, AI processing, push notification delivery, sign-in providers and the app stores — and links out to recipe publishers' websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, availability or privacy practices of any third-party service, and your use of them is governed by their own terms.

Your purchases are governed by Apple's or Google's terms, as set out in Section 04.

Limitation of liability

"As is". The app is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that it will be error-free or uninterrupted, that expiry estimates, dietary flags, nutritional figures or AI-extracted recipe data will be accurate or complete, or that it will meet your requirements.

General limitation. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from your use of the app — including lost data, wasted food, spoiled ingredients, missed expiry reminders that failed to deliver, illness or injury arising from food you chose to eat, or loss of profit or revenue.

Cap. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim relating to these Terms or the app is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) EUR 50.

Your rights as a consumer are preserved. Nothing here limits or excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any mandatory statutory right you have as a consumer under Danish or EU law.

Indemnification

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Salvia Code Labs and its officers, employees and agents against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities and reasonable legal costs arising from: (a) your use of the app in breach of these Terms; (b) Your Content, including images you scan; (c) your infringement of any third-party right; or (d) your breach of applicable law.

Termination

By you. Delete your account in the app at any time, or ask us to at contact@salvie.eu. Remember to cancel an active subscription separately through Apple or Google — deleting your account does not stop it renewing. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of prepaid fees except where the law requires one.

By us. We may suspend or terminate your account, with notice where practicable, if you materially breach these Terms, if we are required to by law, if we discontinue the service, or if your account has been inactive for a long period and you have been notified in advance.

Effect. Your licence to use the app ends immediately, and your data is handled as described in the Privacy Policy. Sections 06, 08, 10, 13, 14 and 17, and anything else that by its nature should survive, continue after termination.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will tell you about material changes in the app or by email at least 14 days before they take effect, and update the date at the top of this page.

Continuing to use Salvie after the effective date means you accept the new Terms. If you don't, stop using the app and delete your account before then. For consumers in the EU and EEA, changes are not retrospective and do not affect rights that have already accrued.

Governing law and jurisdiction

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Jurisdiction. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Danish courts, with the Copenhagen City Court (Københavns Byret) as the court of first instance.

EU consumers. If you are a consumer habitually resident in another EU or EEA country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country of residence — nothing here takes that away.

Online dispute resolution. The European Commission's ODR platform is at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr. Our contact address for that purpose is contact@salvie.eu.

General

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any additional terms shown in the app, are the whole agreement between you and us about Salvie.

Severability. If any provision is found invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.

No waiver. Not enforcing a right straight away doesn't waive it.

Assignment. You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign ours to a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, provided your rights are not materially reduced.

Language. These Terms are written in English. If we provide a translation and the two conflict, the English version prevails.
